BusinessObjects Upgrade: Windows Workstation Requirements
BusinessObjects XI R2 is compatible with the MAIS-supported Windows browsers, Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and IE 7 with Java 1.4.2.x, 1.5.0.x, or 1.6.0_02+. However, there are a few workstation adjustments to make. For many, system administrators and desktop support staff in your unit will make these changes. For others, who either don't have desktop support staff in their unit or who want to run XI R2 on a home or laptop computer, you will need to make these changes yourself.

Required IE Browser Settings
Note: If you have previously adjusted your browser settings, refer to the Windows: Turn Off Trusted Site Pop-Up procedure.
Before running BusinessObjects XI R2 for the first time, you will need to adjust a few browser settings. These adjusted settings enable you to print reports or save them to Excel, and to turn off the trusted site automatic pop-up.
- Add the BusinessObjects root Web server as a trusted site.

- Internet Explorer 6:
- Set the security level for your trusted sites to low or medium-low.
- Internet Explorer 7:
- Under Custom Level settings, enable Automatic Prompting for file downloads and verify that the Do not save encrypted pages to disk checkbox is turned off.

Web Intelligence only: Java Plug-in Information
BusinessObjects XI R2 Web Intelligence (WebI) requires a Java plug-in. Business Objects supports Java plug-in versions:
- Java 1.4.2.x on IE 6
Note: If you use Java 1.5.0.x with IE 6, note that testing has not revealed any incompatibilities. But, if you encounter problems, you may want to downgrade to 1.4.2.x, especially if you do not use other Web applications that require a later version of the Java plug-in. - Java 1.4.1.x or 1.5.0.x on IE 7
Note: Java 1.6 is not supported and has known issues with WebIntelligence. If you are a WebI user, and if you use Java plug-in version 1.6, we recommend downgrading to Java plug-in 1.5. Follow the Windows and IE 7: Downgrade Java 1.6.0 to 1.5 procedure for step-by-step instructions.
- If you don't have a Java plug-in already, version 1.4.2.x will be downloaded the first time you run BusinessObjects XI R2.
