BusinessObjects: Macintosh Workstation Requirements

BusinessObjects XI 3.1 is supported for Safari with Macintosh OS X. Below you will find information about browser and Java plug-in compatibility.

Required Safari Browser Settings

Business Objects supports Safari 5.

Before running BusinessObjects XI 3.1 for the first time, you will need to adjust a few browser settings. These adjusted settings enable you to print reports or save them to Excel, and to turn off pop-up blockers.

Start by opening Safari and selecting Safari > Preferences.

• To turn off the pop-up blocker, click the Security icon. Verify that Block pop-up windows is unchecked.
• Click the Privacy icon. Verify that Never is selected under Block Cookies.
• Click the General icon. Verify that Open "safe" files after downloading is checked.

Java Plug-in Information (Web Intelligence Modify mode only)

Full-access (but not limited-access) WebI users require a Java plug-in. The following combinations of browser and Java plug-in version are supported.

Safari 5	Apple 1.6.0_xx

If you don't have a Java plug-in already, it will be downloaded the first time you run BusinessObjects XI 3.1.

For some versions of Java, a screen of maize and blue graphics displays when you create or run a BusinessObjects report. Here is the fix:

1. Navigate to Applications > Utilities.
2. Double-click Java Preferences.
3. In the Java Preferences window, click the Advanced tab
4. Navigate to Verify mixed security code (sandboxed vs. trusted).
5. Select the "Enable – run with protections, no warnings" option
