On July 21, Laura Patterson, associate vice president and chief information officer, discussed Information and Technology Services with unit liaisons at a Stakeholder Town Hall Meeting. ULs shared feedback on past lessons, gaps, and new products and services .

The departments formerly known as Information Technology Central Services (ITCS), Information Technology Security Services (ITSS), and Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS) comprise the new IT organization.

“The impact of technology on teaching and learning is forcing us to make major changes on campus,” said Patterson, outlining the organization’s plan and purpose. “We now have a chance to cut out redundancies, contain costs, and reinvest in new services on campus. We have an opportunity to catch up in some areas where we have fallen behind.”

Expect Patterson at another fall UL meeting to share the plans for new services - not just for administrative services, but also for other IT services.
