Message from Laura Patterson

As many of you have heard,

  • ITCS, ITSS, and MAIS will combine and form a new IT organization

By transforming these organizations into one, we will improve and expand IT products and services at U-M.

Help us shape our new organization

I invite you to share your insight on how we can expand and improve our services. We are holding a series of town hall meetings to discuss our new organization structure.

Reorganizing to support U

While this may come as a surprise to some, the change is a natural progression in IT.   The emergence of new technologies is happening at a quickening pace. We must change in order to meet the advanced discovery and learning needs of our faculty and students. By restructuring, we will

  • Optimize IT resources
  • Expand our products and services to offer more technologically sophisticated solutions, applications, and infrastructure
  • Align IT more closely to your needs

How does this change impact your unit?

I recognize that many of our services have become critical to your unit’s business process. We are committed to maintaining a high level of service while we change.

Our transformation will involve identifying common IT needs and moving them to a central service for the University, so you can focus on your unit’s unique needs – including the specific requirements of your faculty and students.
