Groups & Communications

Various groups provide information sharing and collaboration opportunities in the U-M administrative data community. This interaction is an essential link between system users and unit administrators, central office staff, and MAIS staff. The following groups that collaborate with or advise MAIS are described below:

  • Advisors on Information Management (AIMS)
  • BusinessObjects User Group
  • HRMS Process Improvement Advisory Group
  • MAIS Unit Liaison Program
  • SA Advisory Groups

Advisors on Information Management Strategy (AIMS) is a University-wide group of administrative data users that is partnering with MAIS to develop a strategic direction for leveraging administrative information at U-M.

BusinessObjects User Group provides an opportunity for participants to exchange techniques for applying technology to access and analyze financial data using BusinessObjects in the Data Warehouse. Participants share strategies for developing departmental information structures based on the financial tables. They also develop and share BusinessObjects queries that meet common financial information requests (i.e. from central administration), and they identify ways to enhance the support structures (consulting, training, documentation, etc.) for the financial reporting environment.

HRMS Process Improvement Advisory Group provides input and advice to the Associate Vice President for Administrative Information Services, the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and the Associate Vice President for Finance on matters related to human resource, payroll and time & labor administrative processes, information systems and services.

MAIS Unit Liaison Program consists of members of the U-M administrative computing community who are appointed by their department. It provides a communications link between the U-M academic and administrative departments they represent; the central office data stewards; and MAIS staff who develop, maintain, and support the M-Pathways systems.

SA Advisory Groups ensure that the strategic and tactical plans of MAIS Student Administration align with U-M's mission, goals, and administrative needs.
