Changing the ICA Extension Type Setting to Ensure the Security of Your Computer
Important: If you are unable to make this change yourself, please request help from your unit's system administrator or desktop support staff.
Perform the following steps to change the Citrix ICA extension type setting on a computer with a Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system. This change will protect the files and local directories on your computer from possible malicious attack.
- Right-click the Start menu in the bottom left corner of your screen, and select Explore.
- Select Folder Options from the Tools menu.
- Within the File Types tab, highlight the ICA extension type. (It might say "Citrix ICA Connection".)
- Click the Delete button.
- Click OK to exit.
Setting Up Your Uniqname
- Double-click the M-Pathways icon on the desktop.
- Choose ICA Settings from the Tools menu.
- Within the General tab, type your uniqname in the
Client name box.
- Click OK.
Note: Follow the Citrix Password Rules that MAIS has established.
Resizing Your Citrix Window
If you download the current version of Citrix, the window size should be appropriate. If you are using a previously installed version of Citrix, you can change the Citrix window size by performing the following steps, which will enlarge the Citrix window without changing any other customized settings.
- Open the Citrix Program Neighborhood window, and click the Settings toolbar button at the top of the box.
- Click the Default Options tab.
- Under Window Size, locate Percent of Screen Size. Scroll if necessary to see this choice.
(Alternatively, you can choose 1024 x 768 or another standard setting. If you select Full Screen, Help Desk staff will not be able to shadow you if you need their assistance.)
- Type 90 In the Percent box. (If you type 100, the image may extend beyond your screen.)
- Click OK.
The next time you log onto Citrix, your screen will be the new size.
