Installing Citrix on a Macintosh Computer
On This Page:
Removing Existing Citrix Files
Important: The installation process will NOT remove the previous version of the Macintosh Citrix ICA client folders from your computer. If the existing client software is not removed first, the computer will not recognize the new version of the Citrix ICA client. To remove the existing client manually:
- Drag the M-Pathways desktop alias to the Trashcan.
- Remove any Citrix ICA Client 6.3 folders located on the hard drive and system preference folder to the Trashcan.
- Empty the Trashcan and reboot the computer before performing the installation steps.
Saving the Citrix Installation File
- Download the Citrix ICA client.
- The default save location will be your desktop or your browser's default download directory.
Installing Citrix Client Software
System Administrators can install the new Citrix client for each user's Macintosh OS X workstations:
Log onto a workstation with the user account.
- Copy the "Citrix ICA Client" folder from installer account /users/admin/library/preferences folder to the /users/"username"/library/preferences folder.
Users can install the new Citrix client on their own Macintosh OS X workstations if they have administrative rights.
- Double-click the icon named MACOSX7405.
Note: After installation, put the installation icons in the Trashcan.
- Click Continue.
- Click Quit.
Adding Citrix to Your Docking Station
- Navigate to the Application folder.
- Select Citrix ICA Client 7.0.
- Select the M-Pathways file and drag it to the Docking Station.
Resizing Your Citrix Window
- Double-click your hard drive icon to display a list of its contents.
- Open the Citrix ICA Client folder.
- Launch the Citrix ICA Client Editor.
- Click Default Settings.
- Click Connection Properties.
- Click Windows and Sounds.
- Click Window Size, and select 1024 x 768.
- Click Save.
- Click Connect to connect to Citrix, or click Quit to exit.
The next time you log into Citrix, your screen will reflect the size change.
Starting a Citrix Session
Double-click the M-Pathways icon on your dock station.
Note: Follow the rules for Citrix passwords that MAIS has established.
Using Citrix to Access Web-Based Resources
Macintosh OS X users can log in to Citrix to access many Web-based systems and resources. The Citrix-based browser performs significantly better for Macintosh OS X users than direct access to Wolverine Access and M-Pathways pages via a desktop Web browser.
Note: Macintosh OS X users must use Citrix to access MAIS LINC.
