How to Request Access
U-M faculty or staff members can obtain access to the University's administrative data resources that pertain to the type of data and level of access (view or update) they need to conduct University business.
Online Access Request System (OARS)
The Online Access Request System (OARS) is a Web-based process for requesting access to administrative data in the following ITS-managed systems and applications:
- M-Pathways systems
- U-M Data Warehouse
- WebNow/ImageNow
Cosign authentication controls what you can see and do within OARS. Unit Liaisons can obtain access information for all users in their unit, and they can initiate and authorize access requests. Individuals can initiate requests for themselves and others, but they cannot authorize requests, and they can view only their own information.
You can view descriptions of access roles and associated training within OARS, and descriptions of M-Pathways systems, modules and data sets are available. The following training guides and simulations will help you learn how to use OARS:
Mainframe (DAC)
Forms for Mainframe (DAC) access are not available through OARS. Unit Liaisons and individuals can download forms and request access to the Mainframe (DAC) by following these steps.
- From the Mainframe Access page, open the Request forSystem Access to Mainframe Data. Instructions are also linked on this page.
- Complete the forms. You can edit these forms electronically. Enter your request
information on your computer; then print and submit these forms
to ITS Access Services.
- Follow your unit's procedures for submitting the forms. (Some units require unit-level approval before requests for system access can be submitted. Be sure to obtain any necessary signatures within your unit before sending the forms to ITS Access Services.)
U-M Research - Grants.gov
U-M researchers using non-Windows computers need to request Citrix access to complete applications for Grants.Gov using PureEdge software.
